Welcome to the TAS Arts Directory. This website has been designed and created by me, Racheal Leigh (of Star Rae Productions & the Tamar Valley Film Festival) and aims to be a free, useful resource for the Tassie Performing Arts Community for those seeking cast and/or crew for your next production.

Pre-Facebook days, I previously ran the highly popular Brisbane Auditions website for around 10 years, which I started as a way of sharing audition notices in one easy location. I eventually removed the website due to Facebook becoming an easier and quicker way at the time for people to reach out and connect with local talent, and it was taking a lot of my time to maintain (it was a lot more manual back then!). However, over the years, as Facebook’s popularity grew, and the algorithms constantly changed, I noticed (despite being on several Facebook groups) that it was becoming a challenge once again trying to find out auditions. Notifications for posts on pages weren’t coming through, or not appearing in my feed. The pandemic did slow things down a little and I relocated back home to Tasmania, where I joined all the relevant Facebook groups, but once again felt I was missing opportunities because they weren’t coming up in my feed as often. However, it was after producing some theatre and film productions through my own business, Star Rae Productions, where I had some challenges trying to find cast & crew that I thought about how great it would be to have a one-stop talent directory! Hence, the TAS Arts Directory was created!

Now, I do realise there are other sites out there which might be considered similar (and its not my intention to step on any toes) however, my research showed they were either paid / subscription sites (often Australia-wide or International) or they were limited to those with experience, or to listing more than 2 categories. In this industry there are many “slashies” where we have multiple talents – so this directory will allow you to list all those skills!

The TAS Arts Directory will hopefully be your go to for Performers (Actors / Singers / Dancers) and Film Production or Stage Crew for film and theatre!

I will be aiming to keep this website free for as long as possible, and keep it only to listings & requests for Tassie-based creatives, of which I will be moderating. So, of course, there is some time and expenses that go into running a website like this – I therefore welcome any sponsors and or donations to help cover costs of running & hosting the website. (Please note, I am not a not-for-profit, nor am I GST registered. Any sponsors or donations are therefore not tax-deductible, but I’d be more than happy to give you a shout out on my Star Rae & TVFF Facebook pages, and a shout out / ad on the Blog page here. I am just a indie sole-trader providing a service to the Tassie Arts Community. )
