Please read through the following guidelines before registering on the website, or creating any listings or requests.
All Users must Register:
- All users must register and create a profile to use the directory.
- To maintain privacy, we only require basic information for registration:
- Username: Create your own username. This does not have to be your email address and is not publicly shown, but once created you will not be able to change this.
- Email address: You will require an email to sign in with and for notifications to be sent to. This email is not publicly shown to protect your privacy. The directory provides an online messages contact form to contact other users.
- Password: Create your unique password. We recommend a strong password but make sure it’s one you remember as you’ll need it to update any details!
The TAS Arts Directory is restricted to users over 18 in compliance with Australian child safety laws. This ensures that all interactions, listings, and content on the platform are managed responsibly, protecting minors from potential exposure to inappropriate services, professional networking, or other content not suitable for children.
Creating a Profile:
Once registered you should be prompted to create your main profile:
- Image: Please upload your headshot. Please aim to keep the file less than 5MB.
- All Performers (Actors / Singers / Dancers) must have a suitable headshot for casting purposes.
- For Behind-The-Scene Creatives – we understand your may not have a headshot, or want to upload one. Instead, you are welcome to upload an appropriate avatar image or your business logo (if your business is related to your skills / request being listed), but please keep in mind this is a directory of people (“creatives”) and a headshot will likely stand out more.
- Name: Please enter your name for your profile. It does require a first and last name to be entered, but only the first initial of your last name will be shown on the website (for example, my name is Racheal Leigh, but it will display my name as Racheal L).
- Location: Please don’t enter your exact address, just your suburb / town for your base location. (This will not limit you appearing in searches if you have created any listings of your skills).
- Website & Social Media Links: These fields are optional – but if you have a creative website, a YouTube / Vimeo / TikTok channel, or a public Facebook / Instagram page showing your creative work, you can list it here and it will show on your profile. (If you have an IMDB profile, please feel free to put the link in the website field). IMPORTANT: These links WILL be publicly displayed / accessible to all website visitors so if your Social Media account is private, please do not enter a link)!
- Profile Info: Please write a short bio / description about yourself. You don’t need to list all your skills here as you can create a listing for each of your skills and provide more information about your related experience and training on each listing. You can make your bio fun and interesting, but please keep it appropriate.
Please note: All profiles will be moderated & verified before approved – so please allow time for approval (this may take up to 24hours). Admin reserve the write to reject any profile that does not meet the guidelines – and we will contact you accordingly so you can update it for reapproval.
What to update your Profile?
Once approved, if at anytime you want to update or change your profile details, or your login email and password – just click on your Username at the top of the page (this is your User Menu). In the dropdown menu, select Settings and you’ll see all your information and have the ability to edit it accordingly.
Creating a Skill Listing:
It’s time to create a profile (aka Listing) for your skill/s. We understand in this industry that many creatives are multi-skilled, so we have not implemented any restrictions as to how many profile listings you can create. All that we ask is that you keep each profile relevant to the skill you are listing. If you skills fall under multiple categories, please create a separate listing for each category.
Please note – you cannot add more than one category at a time. So if you are both an Actor and a Director, you’ll need to first create a listing under the “Actors” Category, and then create a separate listing under “Directors & Creatives” for the Director category.
- Click on Create a Profile at the top of the page. This will bring up an Add Details page.
- Select the relevant Category for your skill. (If you are not sure of the Categories on this website, check them out here).
- Select the relevant Tags for your skill. If you don’t see a Tag listed, feel free to create one. These Tags (as well as the Categories) are all used for searching listings and will help others find your profile!
- List your Experience / Training in the text box below. Please keep this relevant to this particular skill. For example, if this profile is for Musical Theatre but you also write short films, don’t add details about that here – create a new profile for that Writing skill next.
- Click on Submit Listing.
It’s that easy! Now, do keep in mind all profile listings must be approved so please allow up to 24hrs for it to be displayed on the directory. You can view your profiles at any time by going to your User Menu and selecting Listings. Here you will see all the approved profiles you have created, and you can edit, update or delete them at anytime.
Creating a Request:
If you are looking for cast and/or crew for your next production, you have two options – you can search through the categories, or profiles, and message someone directly, or if you have a few roles to fill you can create a Request or two.
- Click on Post a Request (it may appear as a document icon) at the top of the page. This will bring up an Add Details page.
- Image: You are welcome to upload images relevant to your request. This may be a casting notice, a business logo, a production image – whatever may be appropriate to your request.
- Title: Title of the Production (eg: Hamilton – The Musical) or Name of Request (eg: Dancer wanted for Music Video).
- Location: This is where the production will take place. This can be a general location or area.
- Paid: Select this box if you are offering payment for the request. (You can enter further details in the Description box if needed).
- Event Date: This may be the start date of the event, the date of the audition, or the closing date for submissions – it’s up to you, but we just need a date so we know when the request is no longer valid. Please ensure to expand on dates in the Description box.
- Description: Tell us more about your request in the text box below. IMPORTANT: Any contact details or personal information entered here it will be shown publicly. We recommend using the Directory Messenger service before contacting users directly.
- Click on Submit Listing.
Please keep in mind all Requests must be approved first so please allow up to 24hrs for it to be displayed on the directory. You can view your requests at any time by going to your User Menu and selecting Requests. Here you will see all the approved profiles you have created, and you can edit, update or delete them at anytime.
Making an Offer:
All requests are listed on the Requests page. If you see a Request you would like to be considered for, you can Make an Offer. This sends a message to the Requestor to let them know you are interested.
- Click on the Request to open and view the request.
- Click on Make an Offer to express your interest in the request. This will bring up a pop-up box where you can type a short paragraph.
- Click Submit and then Close the box.
Offers are sent directly to the Requestor, where they then have the opportunity to respond via the Messages feature.
Please note: All messages are moderated to ensure they are all above-board and appropriate. Admin will ban any User that uses this Directory for inapproriate reasons.
