ART FOR TAKAYNA 2025:
soft revolution
Dave McEvoy (SA) and Rosemary Cann (TAS) met in Takayna on the Art for Takayna residency in April 2025, and now collaborate creating spontaneous composition, melody and lyric. Their improvised performances so far have been shaped by their experiences in Takayna and the powerful landscapes of Lutruwita, including impressions ad and words offered by the audience present.

THE BROKEN GIRLS CLUB – Lead singer, Lyricist
The Broken Girls Club was a four-piece Sad Girl Pop band active in the Hobart scene from 2019-2022. The Broken Girls Club have supported The Chats, Luca Brasi, Maddy Jane, Jade Imagine, An Horse and Moody Peaches. We have performed at MONA FOMA, Vibrance Festival and Junction Arts Festival. We were the grateful recipients of an Arts Tasmania grant in 2021, for funding toward recording and releasing our debut EP ‘ROOKIES’, available now on Spotify. We have also performed for Live@three65 and tiny blue sessions, or you can listen on Triple J Unearthed!
Beat Magazine: ‘With vocals reminiscent of 4 Non Blondes, lyrics that wouldn’t be out of place in a Blink-182 album, a keen focus on mental health, and a vibe that can only be described as unabashedly tongue-in-cheek, The Broken Girls Club was the first act of the night to have people up and bopping. […] The Broken Girls Club were a definite crowd pleaser, and a new favourite band of mine.’
